Composition in Action
A song on its own can highlight a composer’s range and flexibility, but it doesn’t compare to watching them breathe life into a scene by layering the music on top of the acting. In that same spirit, please enjoy a selection of my favorite original pieces set to picture!
About Time (2013) ReScore
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to score a scene where the incredible powerhouses that are Bill Nighy and Domhnall Gleeson went back and forth with incredibly emotional performances. I feel strongly that this rescore really highlights my understanding of nuance, when to go big, and when to pull back. As much as I love hybrid orchestration and blending synth work with traditional instrumentation, I want to make sure that my orchestral chops are on full display!
Beyond the Aquila Rift (2016) is one of my all time favorite short stories, so when the team at Love Death + Robots did an adaptation I knew I had to rescore the awakening scene. This rescore highlights when minimalism can lead the way for vulnerable moments during the first half of the cue, and how layering textures and clusters drives tension in the second half.

Tenet (2020) Rescore
I think Christopher Nolan stories are always such a blast to watch unravel, and this action scene from Tenet was a great opportunity for me to flex my sound design and rhythm section muscles. I really love finding ways to drive energy during action scenes without being overly repetitive. Finding a balance between a rhythmic core and experimental sound design elements is always so much fun!
